Activities

Throughout the day, children participate in activities that teach core objectives: literacy, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, the arts, and Bible lessons. Three year olds also attend a chapel service led by a pastor of the church.

Experiences:

  • Morning Prayer and Song: Children experience Godโ€™s love and fellowship through praying and singing.
  • Circle Time: Children practice communication skills, are introduced to new lessons and materials and participate in higher-level thinking related to the unit of study.
  • Read-Aloud: Children learn about each component of literacy as they listen to and discuss books related to the unit of study.
  • Workshops: Development is supported through purposeful play both indoors and outdoors in interest areas: Art, Blocks, Cooking, Discovery, Dramatic Play, Library, Music and Movement, Manipulatives/Games, Sand and Water, Worship, and Writing.
  • Chapel: Bible lessons are reinforced as children attend a chapel service in the sanctuary led by a pastor of the church.
  • Small Groups: Teachers introduce new concepts and materials, help children with specific skills, encourage conversations and sharing of ideas.
  • Snacks and Lunch Time: Children learn independence, practice hygiene and self-care routines, help distribute materials and clean up, and socialize with friends.
  • Naptime: Children rest quietly to restore and renew their body and mind.
  • Closing Prayer and Circle Time: Children reflect on the dayโ€™s events, share their work and pray as a group.

Special Events:

  • Programs and Performances: In addition to celebrationsthroughout the school year, children alsoparticipate in special programs such as anannual Christmas pageant sharing the story ofJesusโ€™ birth through speaking and songs. Andat Easter, they learn and experience Jesusโ€™death and resurrection by walking throughโ€œThe Steps to the Resurrection.โ€.
  • Community Guest Speakers: Musicians, Artists, Gardeners and other experts come to perform or share stories with the children about their particular field.
